Dear Diane,

I loved your article and enthusiasm. As far as I know, I was the first one to run a Monkee Convention...in Chicago in 1980... where I flew Bobby Hart in from LA. I took 20 strangers iin July of 1979 and started the Monkees Relived Conventions. Our last one, in Septemeber of 1986, was at the Hollywood Holiday Inn and coincided with the Monkees reuniting at the Greek Theater. WOW!!! We not only had thousands of fans from across the world, however, we had many people who were associated with their show and music...including the Monkees and Boyce and Hart.

Well, a little time has passed since that frenzy of making fans all over the world happy, however, I still keep in touch with a core group of my committee...Gary Strobl, Mike Bush, Lisa Mikita, Stu Shea, etc.

I was just interviewed last summer by BBC Radio about the conventiones and it brought back that same great feeling of connecting with friends from all over. Fandom is the single best invention in the world because it has created a community of like minds...all around the world. I live in Los Angeles and have considered another convention, if there is interest. I am just spreading the word but would love to hear from anyone.

Sincerely,
Leslie (Goldberg) Zimmer

Nice points all around.

My first concert ever was the Monkees' reunion show in '86 at the Smith Center. I swear that Mike is one of the most underrated songwriters of all time. I will stand behind the Monkees!
